Believers Baptism

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolising the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior and the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. Therefore at Lifeway, we believe that baptism is for the 'believer' (someone who has made their own informed decision to accept Jesus) and therefore call it 'believer's baptism'.

We do not believe that baptism is necessary for salvation, but is an outward expression of a person's salvation. It is for this reason we do not baptise babies or infants.

The word for baptise in Greek is baptizo, which means "to dip, plunge, submerge, or immerse."

It is done by full immersion and for those able to profess Jesus.

We will therefore baptise people by full immersion after they have received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, as a public testimony to symbolise His - death, burial, and resurrection - and what He does in the believer - death to the old life, its burial, and resurrection to a new life in Christ.
